Harriet Spicer

 

Harriet Spicer is a lay member of the Judicial Appointments Commission and was Chair and Commissioner at the National Lottery Commission. She was involved in the establishment and growth of these new bodies and developed a keen interest in organisations and how people work within them. She chaired the Audit & Risk Committee at the Lottery Commission and sits on the same committee at the JAC.

 

She was a founder member of Virago Press in the 70s, working there for over twenty years and as Managing Director for much of that time.

 

She was executive Chair of The Friendly Almshouses, a charity providing sheltered accommodation in Brixton; a member of the Almeida Theatre Local Liaison Group and worked for the Campaign for Quality Television. She has undertaken extensive training

in counselling and psychotherapy at Spectrum, the influential north London centre for humanistic psychotherapy.

 

She is a Governor of the London School of Economics, has two children and is on the advisory board of The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra – the best swing outside a playground.
